Evan Groening joins the Cougars
PRINCE GEORGE— The Cats have made their final trade of the 2023/2024 season with the announcement of the acquisition of forward Evan Groening (05) from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a tenth-round selection in the 2027 WHL Prospect’s draft.
Evan Groening, 18, from Niverville Manitoba, is currently showcasing his skills with the Virden Oil Capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). In seven games with the Oil Capitals, Groening has notched an impressive nine points comprising four goals and five assists.
The 6’1, 176-pound, left winger has 74 games of WHL experience has accumulated nine goals three assists, and 42 penalty minutes. Groening was originally selected in the 9th round, 177th overall, in the WHL Prospect’s Draft by the Wheat Kings.
The Cougars will take to home ice this weekend against the Kelowna Rockets. Puck drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
