Cougars Kmec & Becher return to team after successful World Juniors tournament

PRINCE GEORGE — Although it wasn’t with Team Canada, two Prince George Cougars represented their country at the 2024 World Juniors tournament. Ondrej Becher for Team Czchia and Villiam Kmec for Team Slovakia.

For Kmec it was the 3rd Tournament the defenseman has played in. He was one of the top players on Slovakia’s blue line recording four assists in five games and playing 22 Minutes a night on the country’s top pairing. After helping Slovakia finish 2nd in the Group Stage the team lost in Overtime to Finland in the Quarterfinals.

Ondrej Becher made his World Juniors debut this year for Team Czechia and didn’t disappoint. The forward was dominant all tournament finishing with ten points in seven games including an incredible performance in the Bronze Medal Game. Where Becher recorded a hat-trick and two assists and helped Czechia win the bronze after an 8-5 thriller over Finland.
