PRINCE GEORGE — A total of 46 driving suspensions were issued during the holiday season in Prince George.

That includes 24 90 day driving suspensions due to alcohol, 14 24 hour driving suspensions due to drugs, 5 three day suspensions due to alcohol and 3 24 hour suspensions due to alcohol.

“We issued a total of 46 driving suspensions in December, mostly for alcohol-related impaired driving offenses, but nearly a third were for drug-related impaired driving offenses. The message we are trying to convey to drivers is that there are safer alternatives to impaired driving and the consequences can be steep if you choose to drive impaired”, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

RCMP are thanking Operation Red Nose for their efforts this holiday season, or things could have been worse. Operation Red Nose provided over 470 rides over their nine nights of operation.
