PRINCE GEORGE – On Tuesday morning, the powerful windstorm that hit the Prince George area, knocking over trees and two large commercial signs downtown, caused a widespread power outage that affected over 7000 people, keeping BC Hydro Crews busy responding to calls throughout the day.

In addition to power outages, the storm in some areas reached speeds of 100 km, which resulted in several incidents requiring immediate attention.

PG Fire Rescue responded to 32 calls, including 16 reports of downed power lines and ten requests to assist residents with assessing trees on houses.

The City’s 311 service center also received 15 calls from people reporting trees down on roads and other public areas. There is no cost estimate on how much damage was caused by the windstorm.
