Local Special Olympics B.C. Prince George athletes heading to Nationals

PRINCE GEORGE — Five local Special Olympics B.C. Prince George athletes have been training hard over the past year, getting ready to represent Region Team B.C. in their respective sports at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.

Special Olympics athletes Lance Pattinson, Sam Russell, Spencer Rourke, David Dunn, and Marinka Van Hage will be heading to Calgary Alberta, from February 27th to March 2nd with the goal of taking part in the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in Turin Italy.

Sam Russell and Spencer Rourke are members of the Curling team, consisting of athletes from Quesnel and Prince George. Lance Pattinson is a member of the 5-pin bowling team, which consists of athletes from Dawson Creek, Quesnel, and Prince George. Athletes David Dunn and Marinka VanHage will be competing in Snowshoeing.

These Prince George athletes will be joined by 800 athletes with intellectual disabilities from twelve of Canada’s Provincial/Territorial Special Olympics Chapters.
