PRINCE GEORGE –A recent Leger poll has some people worried artificial intelligence lacks empathy and could threaten their jobs. According to an AI expert, this technology has been around for a decade, and we don’t even notice it.

AI teaches computers to think and learn independently to help us solve problems and do tasks without us telling them precisely what to do every time.

The poll suggests that 30 percent of Canadians surveyed are turning to Al tools, up from 25 percent a year ago. More than half of younger respondents have used A-I tools, compared to just 13 percent of those 55 and older.

“Apprehension is that all of a sudden, you start to see the sort of things that you might have done for your work. This system can do to a pretty decent degree, which is apprehension. It can create tension. On the other hand, the reason why there’s a lot of adoption of it, I believe, is because people start to see the power of using it.”

According to Dr. Kafui Monu from the UNBC School of Business, at the beginning of e-commerce, some people played around with it, trying to see what they could buy, And others were saying, I’m never going to use it.

AI is becoming more prevalent, and empathy and job security concerns may arise. Still, the technology’s slow integration over the years suggests that many are already using it without realizing it.
