Cougars secure BC Division Crown in shootout over the Rockets

KELOWNA, BC – The Prince George Cougars secured their second BC Division Crown in franchise history with a thrilling 6-5 shootout win over the Kelowna Rockets last night (Feb. 24).

Zac Funk led the team with 3 goals on regular time, while Hudson Thornton and Riley Heidt scored one goal each. After a nail-biting overtime period featuring breakaway chances for both teams, the game ended in a shootout. It was Ondrej Becher’s lone goal and Josh Ravensbergen’s saves that secured the Cougar’s 40th win of the season and the BC Division championship – the first since the 2016-17 season.

Ravensbergen made a total of 26 saves in the win, while Jari Kykkaenen faced 40 shots for the Rockets.

Next, the Cougars get ready to welcome the Spokane Chiefs next Friday (Mar. 1) inside CN Centre.
