PRINCE GEORGE— It’s been an exciting week of competitions over at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club and while Canada doesn’t have a large quantity of athletes the ones that wear the maple leaf make up for it in quality and speed. Mark Arendz is one of those Canadians and last week he swept the competition in the biathlon earning a Crystal Globe.

Arendz started off the competition on March 6, 2024, with a win in the Men’s Standing Biathlon 7.5km Sprint having a time of 21 minutes and 5.5 seconds. March 7, 2024 saw his second victory with a time of 35 minutes and 1.2 seconds.

While March 8 was a training day he secured another win in the Sprint Pursuit with a time of 11 minutes and 18.9 seconds.

His final biathlon competition saw Arendz team up with Brittany Hudak to represent Canada in the Team Sprint. Arendz and Hudak finished the competition in 22 minutes and 44.4 seconds earning bronze.

The Crystal Globe is a trophy awarded to the top point earners in an IPC competition. This is not Mark Arendz first IPC World Cup Crystal Globe as he captured his first Crystal Globe in the 2012-13 World Cup in Poland.

Arendz continues his hot streak going into the Para Nordic World Cup finals earning Gold in his first race with a time of 27 minutes and 42 seconds.
