BC Hydro releases cause of Friday power outage

PRINCE GEORGE — BC Hydro has released the cause of Friday night’s power outage in College Heights.
They say it was caused by a combination of wind and some components in the local electrical system which came off their insulators.
The pole with the issue is located in a difficult to access area so while crews were immediately dispatched, they first had to use faulted circuit indicators to determine the section of the line that was affected.
Once that was discovered, they were able to make the repair. Over 2,700 BC Hydro customers were affected by the outage which occurred from around 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
