Cougars rookie star named WHL Player of the Week

PRINCE GEORGE—Forward Terik Parascak has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 17, 2024.

While, Parascak has been named Rookie of the Week five times and Rookie of the Month twice, it’s his first time receiving this honour as he led all the entire league with 11 points (seven goals, four assists) and a plus three rating in four games.

Starting the week strong, the Lethbridge Alberta product netted one goal and an assist in a 6-5 overtime win against the Kelowna Rockets to earn earn third star of the game.

On March 15, the 5’11” 179-pound winger opened the scoring against the Victoria Royals. In the second frame, he scored again during a power play with less than three seconds left on the clock. The Cats won 6-1 against the Royals.

In the rematch game Parascak showed why the Cougars have been a dominant force in the WHL with three points helping add to the Cougars 10-4 win.

On Sunday, Parascak enter the game against the Vancouver Giants determined to cross the century mark in points. During the game he earned two assists and two goal. The Cougars finished the game with 6-3 against the giants.

Over 66 games, Parascak leads the WHL rookies in scoring with 103 point; 43 goals and 60 assists. He’s also currently the only first-year player in the Canadian Hockey League to pass 100 points this season.

Parascak is ranked fourteenth among North American skater by NHL Central Scouting ahead of June’s NHL Entry Draft.

The Cats will finish the regular season with a weekend in Kamloops against the Blazers on March 22.
