Six Cougars make first and second All-Star teams
PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Cougars have received more accolades from the WHL as defence Hudson Thorton, forward Zac Funk, and forward Riley Heidt are on the line up for the first B.C. division All-Star Team. Additionally, goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen, defence Viliam Kmec, and forward Terik Parascak are on the second All-Star Team.
Needless to say Thorton has had a stellar year finishing fourth in scoring among all WHL defenders, tallying 74 points (18 goals-56 assists) in 68 games. The 20 year old product from Winnipeg Manitoba was a second round draft pick in the 2018 WHL draft. His lifetime WHL record is 196 points (56 goals-140 assists) in 207 career WHL Regular Season games.
Forward Zac Funk leads the WHL with 67 goals and is second in points with 123. The 20 year old prospect from Coldstream B.C. was named Player of the Week once this season and Player of the month for September/October. Zac Funk signed an entry level contract with the Washington Capitals on March 1, 2024.
19-year-old Riley Heidt finished third in scoring with 117 points with 37 goals and 80 assists in 66 games.Heidt was recognized as a WHL Player of the Week on February 26, 2024. He has signed an entry level contract with Minnesota Wild.
