Fire at Downtown Encampment

PRINCE GEORGE –
On the morning of March 28, 2024, crews from two halls of the Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire, near the encampment at the end of 5th Avenue and Ottawa Street.
On arrival, crews found a large debris pile and a commercial trailer on fire. The trailer had tires on it and the fire caused the tires to release generating an explosive sound.
Crews were on scene for approx. an hour and forty-five minutes extinguishing the blaze. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Damages are estimated at $2500. The fire cause is undetermined.
