Spruce Kings place last in conference, prepare for first-place Vees in playoffs

MERRITT — Carter Hesselgrave was the only goal scorer for the Prince George Spruce Kings last night in a 4-1 loss to the hometown Merritt Centennials.

The Spruce Kings finish the B.C. Hockey League regular season in last place in Interior Conference standings, with 16 wins in 54 games.

The first-place Penticton Vees (38-9-3-3) and the Spruce Kings (16-35-3-0) will meet in Round 1 of the playoffs.

Game 1 is scheduled for Friday in the Peach City.
