PRINCE GEORGE — Public comments are now being invited for a proposed LNG project near Prince George.

The Summit Lake PG LNG project is being proposed by JX LNG Canada Ltd. and would be located approximately 30 kilometres north of Prince George at the Hart Industrial site.

According to the company, the project will be constructed in two identical phases. Phase 1 will produce up to 1.35 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and Phase 2 will produce an additional 1.35 MTPA for a total of 2.70 MTPA of LNG. Commercial operations for Phase 1 are expected to commence in 2028.

At full build out the company says the project will process approximately 10,060 e3m3/d (355 MMSCFD) of pipeline grade natural gas to produce 2.70 MTPA of LNG. The Project is expected to operate for 30 years.

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada says comments received will support the preparation of a joint Summary of Issues and Engagement document that will be given to the proponent to help it write the Detailed Project Description.

It says comments only need to be submitted once to either the Agency or the EAO to be considered in both the federal and provincial assessment processes. Comments are considered public and will be published online. Feedback sent to the Agency may be submitted in English or French.

The 30-day comment period ends May 2 and can be made by clicking here.
