Prince George lost in the sauce as it faces a China Lily Shortage

PRINCE GEORGE— A crisis in Prince George as businesses report a shortage of the beloved soy sauce China Lily.

In a social media post by Marquee on March 26, 2024 shows just how hard it is to get in the coveted product.

“Owner of Marquee Brian Chang says that, while the cause of the current shortage is unknown, the manufacturer of the brand in Toronto is smaller than other businesses, and BC is the farthest province away, which leads to shortages more often.”

The question remains as to why China Lily has so many devoted fans? Chang says the secret in the sauce is the caramel. Unlike traditional soy sauce China Lily adds sugar during the fermentation process giving a more balanced flavour.
