Unemployment rate in Prince George up slightly in March
PRINCE GEORGE — The year-over-year unemployment rate in Prince George is up slightly.
Statistics Canada says it was 6.4 per cent in March, up from 6.2 per cent in March 2023.
Despite that, 52,400 people were working, up from 49,700 this time last year. The greatest gains were in education services, healthcare, social assistance and accommodation and food services.
Little change in B.C.’s unemployment rate as it increased from 5.2 per cent in February to 5.4 per cent in March. Statistics Canada says 75,000 jobs were created in B.C. over the past 12 months.
