PRINCE GEORGE – City Council has approved receiving a grant from the Rick Hansen Foundation to make improvements to some local facilities.

“At some point now or in the future, we are all impacted by accessibility,” noted Councillor Susan Scott, who has sat on the City’s Accessibility Committee for years. “And this more than curb cuts. It’s also snow clearing has gone way up in terms of sidewalks in our city.”

The City has paid a great deal more attention to accessibility issues in recent years, dedicating funding to repairing sidewalks and adding curb cuts.

This envelope of funding will focus on accessibility improvements at City Hall and the Two Rivers Art Gallery. The work will entail addressing issues like emergency services, accessible washrooms, stairs, ramps, signage and doors. The City received just over $80,000.
