PRINCE GEORGE— UNBC Timberwolves Men’s Basketball have announced the committment of 6’3″ point guard Ben White for the UNBC 2024 season.

The Richmond, B.C., product played for Adam Huffman at CTA West, a post-grad prep program based in Calgary, AB. Last season he averaged 5.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

“I like to facilitate and find my teammates for easy looks,” said White who has pro basketball aspirations after his U SPORTS career. “I can score from inside and outside and I give my all at both ends of the court.”

“Ben is a bigger point guard and this is something that excites us as it will add some size to our backcourt and give us a different look defensively as we’ve primarily had smaller point guards over the last number of years,” explained Head Coach Todd Jordan. “Ben is a steady and reliable player who makes solid decisions, and a capable shooter in spot up situations.”

White, an honour roll graduate of R.A. McMath Secondary, visited UNBC last March and was impressed with coach Jordan and the team’s culture and cohesion.

“I chose UNBC because of the basketball team’s culture and the people there. I felt the winning culture of the program and I know that we can keep winning and I’m super excited to join the team,” reflected White who plans to study Business at UNBC.

White concluded, “I love basketball because of the feeling I get when I play. I feel free, and I feel like I can learn, and I love to compete. I’m super excited to make the jump to Canada West. I know that there’ll be a lot more athletic, stronger, more skilled players than I’ve ever faced before, but I’ve never backed down from a challenge and I’m ready to compete against them.”
