Former Prisoner Turned Advocate: Resident Fights for Disability Rights in Clothing

Apr 26, 2024 | 1:37 PM

PRINCE GEORGE – Chris Duemo, a Prince George resident with a criminal past, has recently encountered a problem. He is unable to find work because of a disability, and now he is on a mission to change the law to help others in the same situation to find clothes that fit. He has plans to change the letter of the law.

“ What the government doesn’t seem to understand is that I’m a larger guy, and larger guys have to pay larger prices for clothing.”

Chris sometimes longs for the predictability and comfort of prison life, where everything is provided, down to the smallest detail.

Since Chris has been unsuccessful in securing government funding to purchase clothes that fit correctly, he has decided to pursue legislative changes instead.

Prince George-Mackenzie BC United MLA Mike Morris suggests one possible solution is to form an advocacy group to help speed along change to the legislation.
