Suspect arrested following Pine Centre Mall robbery

PRINCE GEORGE— Update: RCMP say the incident was reported to them at 2:54 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says a 38-year-old man, who is not a Prince George resident, threatened multiple people with a weapon at a retail location in the mall.

She says within six minutes of the report, the suspect was arrested.

“This is another great example of our officers’ dedication to public safety, to deliver such a well-coordinated response resulting in a swift arrest.”

There were no injuries.

Earlier: Prince George RCMP responded to a robbery at Pine Center Mall at around 3 p.m. Wednesday (May 1).

Several RCMP officers attended the scene including a police service dog team. Officers focused their investigation on the front entrance of the mall, which remained open.

No word yet on which store was targeted or if anyone was injured.

Corporal Jennifer Cooper says the suspect is in custody. More information will be released as the investigation continues.
