PRINCE GEORGE—B.C. Hydro is planning a power outage for this Saturday (May 25) evening. The bulk of the electrical work will occur on Ospika Boulevard but crews will be doing other upgrades on the grid.

“Other departments within B.C. Hydro are also piggybacking on the outage to accomplish other necessary tasks to upgrade the infrastructure. So, that’s going to avoid the need for even more planned outages in the future,” explains Susie Rieder, a spokesperson for B.C. Hydro.

The overnight outage will begin at 8:00 p.m. with the power turning back on at 6:00 a.m. The nightime outage looks to reduce the impact on residents daily usage. 9734 customers will be affected.

Those connected to the Chief Lake substation will also be affected as crews replace the lines to the station. If you are affected by the outage B.C. Hydro will notify you either through mail or by telephone.

Rieder assure that the upgrades are important for maintaining power to Prince George saying that “or anyone who’s going to experience this planned outage, we thank you so much for your patience and just know this is important upgrades that need to be done on our electrical system to maintain its safe and efficient operation.”
