City of Prince George seeks volunteers for bear awareness committee
PRINCE GEORGE — If you’d like to lend your expertise when it comes to being bear aware, now’s your chance.
The City of Prince George has formed an Advisory Committee on Bear Awareness with four spots up for grabs.
The committee’s work will last four months and begin in early July. Members of the committee are expected to meet regularly during its term and to engage in research and information gathering activities to best inform the committee’s recommendations to Council.
The goal of the committee is to increase bear awareness and promote both public and bear safety. The committee was prompted by concerns over the number of bears put down in Prince George last year – 81 – which was double the five-year average in Prince George.
