Council to keep bus stop on Davis Road after feedback from community

PRINCE GEORGE– On Wednesday night City Council followed up on an issue that was brought up to them by members of the Sikh community about a relocation of a bus stop on Davis Road. After some discussion Council has decided to keep the stop where it is and look at different options.

For the Sikh community, the council’s decision is reassuring. Many use the Davis Road bus stop every single day, as it is located just outside the Guru Nanak Darbar temple.

A statement from BC Transit says the following

“Following concerns from the community and a petition related to the future relocation of a specific bus stop on Davis Road, Prince George staff and BC Transit worked to develop alternate routing that would maintain coverage at a lower service level and City Council decided to keep the regular routing. BC Transit will continue to work with the City of Prince George to ensure transit systems are being improved to meet the needs of all our customers in the community.”

Now the City and BC Transit will look at alternative routes instead. The route changes discussed are expected to take place in September.
