City, RDFFG and Lheidli T’enneh First Nation sign updated MOU

PRINCE GEORGE — On National Indigenous Peoples Day, the City of Prince George, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG), and the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation (LTFN) came together to sign an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
According to a joint press release from the City, RDFFG and LTFN, “the original MOU between the three organizations was signed in 2017. Updates to the 2017 agreement were proposed during the 2023 Government to Government (G2G) forum, where elected officials from all three organizations reviewed and suggested edits. One key addition is the agreement for the parties to meet formally as staffs, councils, and governments no less than once per year.”
“I am glad we have been able to bolster our collaboration and strengthen our relationship with Lheidli T’enneh through this updated MOU,” said Mayor Simon Yu. “This agreement signifies our commitment to working together for the betterment of our community.”
“We have made strong relationships a staple of everything we do for our Nation and members,” said Chief Dolleen Logan, on behalf of Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. “Through on-going discussions with both the City of Prince George and Regional District of Fraser Fort George, we identified opportunities to strengthen our joint commitments, ensuring all parties remain at the table to progress mutually beneficial opportunities.”
