Pattison Media awards scholarships to six journalism students

KAMLOOPS — Pattison Media Ltd. has announced the awarding of six total scholarships valued at $2,500 each, to deserving students enrolled in journalism and/or broadcast studies at institutions across Western Canada.

Pattison Media recognizes that there are significant challenges in both the recruiting of well-trained individuals for all aspects of the broadcasting industry, and there are significant challenges for individuals in the underrepresented groups including:

· Indigenous Persons

· Persons with disabilities

· Members of visible minorities

· Women

Pattison Media expanded the Prairie Equity Scholarship in 2023 to accept applicants from all Western Canadian provinces and increased the annual scholarship offering to a total of up to $20,000 for 2024. After careful review of the applicants, six scholarships valued at $2,500 each will be given out.

The successful Pattison Media Equity Scholarship recipients are:

· Minaal Adnan Mount Royal College, School of Broadcast/Journalism

· Marina Fries SAIT, Broadcast Studies

· Karla Jubaily UBC School of Journalism

· Solana Pasqual UBC School of Journalism

· Rebecca-Lynn Reeves Grant MacEwan University School of Journalism

· Bridget Stringer-Holden UBC School of Journalism
