COUGARS SALE

‘It’s a shame’: Cougars looking to put relocation story behind them

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars are coming off a historic season with a bright future.

It was a report that caught the community and organization off guard claiming the team was for sale and could be moved elsewhere. While that is not the case, one of the six shareholders of the organization is looking to gauge the price of his investment. The Cougars however have assured fans they will not be moving out of the Northern Capital.

With the team looking to stay in Prince George for the foreseeable future it’s positive news for fans and music to the ears of city councillor Ron Polillo who knows how important this team is to the community and City of Prince George.

The team hopes the news and conversation of the team being for sale doesn’t affect the progress that the organization has made on and off the ice.

“It’s been a great last couple of years, and we’re building momentum as an organization and giving the fans something to be proud of. To throw this distraction in there, to maybe possibly hurt season membership sales or ticket sales or have doubts that we’re going to be here long term. It’s a shame.” – Taylor Dakers, Director of Business, Prince George Cougars

The team will open their season at the CN Centre welcoming the Spokane Chiefs for back-to-back games on Friday, and Saturday, September 20th, and Saturday, September 21st.
