Cougars center Hunter Laing drafted by Flames
PRINCE GEORGE — A third Prince George Cougar was selected during the second day of the 2024 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.
On Saturday (June 29), the Calgary Flames selected 18-year-old Hunter Laing 170th overall in the sixth round of the NHL Draft.
The 6’5”, 205 lbs center scored 25 points (11 goals and 14 assists) in 66 games with the Cougars during the 2023-24 Western Hockey League (WHL) season. He added one goal in 10 playoff games.
Along with Laing, the Cougars had two other players get selected in the NHL Draft. Forward Terik Parascak was taken 17th overall by the Washington Capitals in the first round while center Ondrej Becher was taken 80th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the third round.
