PRINCE GEORGE — The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on Premier David Eby to suspend the provincial motor fuels tax.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) says provincial motor fuels tax adds about 15 cents to the cost of a litre of gasoline, adding suspending the tax would save families about $11 every time they fuel up their minivan.

They also note that more than one in three British Columbians are seriously considering leaving the province because of affordability according to recent polling by the Angus Reid Institute.

“Premiers like Wab Kinew, Andrew Furey and Doug Ford have suspended their provincial fuel taxes to save families money and Eby should do the same in B.C.,” said Carson Binda, B.C. Director of the CTF. “It’s time for Eby to take affordability seriously and provide relief for British Columbians by scraping his gas tax.”
