A wet June for Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — The weather gods came through for Prince George in June.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says 80.2 millimetres of precipitation fell in June, better than the average of 65.3 millimetres – or 122 per cent of normal.

“It’s great for fire suppression though we’re still experiencing drought conditions,” says Operational Meteorologist Jennifer Kowal.

Kowal says the amount of rainfall Prince George experienced in June was the highest total over the past five years, though well short of the record 157.3 millimetres of precipitation that fell in June 1993.
