Fraser Lake and Stellat’en First Nation sign historic deal

FRASER LAKE – The Village of Fraser Lake and Stellat’en First Nation are thrilled to announce the signing of a historic Municipal Type Service Agreement in late. The signing ceremony marks a significant step towards mutual support in fire services between the two communities.

The agreement highlights the shared commitment to safeguarding neighbours and the broader community. It sets the stage for the collaborative use of emergency resources, enhancing the overall safety and preparedness of both communities.

Starting July 8th, the Fraser Lake Volunteer Fire Department will invite the Stellat’en Volunteer· Fire Department to join its weekly training sessions. This initiative aims to elevate the Stellat’en Volunteer Fire Department to meet industry standards for exterior structural firefighting.

“During an unpredictable fire season, the Village of Fraser Lake is enthused to collaborate with Stellat’en First Nation for the protection of our communities,” noted Fraser lake Mayor Sarrah Storey.
