PRINCE GEORGE — Eight people were rescued early Sunday morning after spending the night on an island in the Willow River.

Prince George Search and Rescue (PGSAR) members were mobilized overnight when a group of adults and kids were reported overdue after they went out tubing on a remote stretch of the river.

The distance travelled was greater than anticipated and their tubes were damaged during the trip, and consequently they decided to stay on the island. They spent the night huddled together and wearing their bathing suits.

PGSAR says its a reminder to tell people where you’re going and when you plan to arrive. They also urge you to receive the proper training.
