Athlete set to represent Prince George in 2024 Paris Paralympics

PRINCE GEORGE— The 2024 Paralympics take place in Paris beginning August 28, 2024. The event promises to bring together 4,400 of the world’s greatest Paralympic athletes and one of those athletes is a resident of Prince George.

Joel Ewert (#30) will be making his Paralympic debut as he joins team Canada for Wheelchair Rugby.

The full 2024 team roster is:

  • Cody Caldwell #9 – Peterborough, ON
  • Eric Rodrigues # 41 Mississauga, ON
  • *Joel Ewert #30 – Prince George, BC

  • Mike Whitehead #8 – Windsor, ON
  • Patrice Dagenais #12 – Embrun, ON
  • *Rio Kanda Kovac #1 – Toronto, ON
  • Travis Murao #2 – Toronto, ON
  • Trevor Hirshfield #10 – Parksville, BC

*Denotes first-time Paralympians.

Canada will be in Pool A alongside the United States, Japan, and Germany. Pool B will consist of France, Australia, Great Britain, and Denmark.

Competition Schedule:

  • August 29th: Canada vs USA at 7:30 a.m. ET
  • August 30th: Canada vs Germany at 11:30 a.m. ET
  • August 31st: Canada vs Japan at 11:30 a.m. ET
  • September 1st: Playoffs
  • September 2nd: Medal Rounds
