PRINCE GEORGE – Following recent river rafting incidents that saw one end in fatalities and the other result in a family of eight being stranded over night, Prince George RCMP and Prince George Search and Rescue (PGSAR) are urging you to stay safe.

“We’ve had over the years, people on a lot of the rivers around Prince George just underestimate the length of time, the hazards on our local rivers,” said PGSAR Manager Dave Merritt.

we are just issuing a reminder to people about water safety. the rivers are a great place to cool off. such distance has been so hot. But we do have to keep in mind that unlike a lake, or maybe some of our our manmade rivers that we have in other parts of the province, our rivers are very unpredictable.
