Minister Ma delivers wildfire update
PRINCE GEORGE – Speaking from the BC Wildfire air strip in Kamloops, BC Emergency Management Minister Bowinn Ma has the latest about the ever-growing wildlife season. And with much attention of late in the Southern Interior, the BC Wildfire Service says every region is at risk. With 1,300 lightning strikes and record-breaking heat, the Southern Interior is the most recent site of concern.
“We have nearly 800 firefighting personnel on the ground working to keep British Columbians safe,” explains Minister Ma. “And we are incredibly grateful to have Australian and New Zealand specialists join them in this fight this weekend.
Luckily, reinforcements have arrived from all corners, such as planes from Alaska and the Yukon. And it doesn’t end there.
