Two Cariboo communities evacuated

PRINCE GEORGE – Two communities in the Cariboo have been evacuated: Wells and Barkerville after the Antler Creek fire began to get aggressive.

“This this fire is a monster and it’s erratic,” that is how the Mayor of Wells, Ed Coleman, described the fire. “Once it gets out of that rain or it moves so it’ll find a little valley it wants to go down and then it’ll get blown a different direction. It’ll jump up the hillside. But, it got close last last night. It got close. And I mean mainly the Barkerville area like very close.”

Evacuees were sent to reception centres in both Quesnel and Prince George. And, luckily, everyone made it out safe.
