Update: Courthouse bomb threat deemed false

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Prince George RCMP have concluded their search of the Courthouse and have determined that the bomb threat to be false.

“Police officers will be allowing people back into the downtown area, the Courthouse and the surrounding businesses. We thank everyone for their cooperation in staying away from downtown while we conducted our investigation,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing as RCMP work to determine who made the false call to the Courthouse this morning.

There will be no further updates.

Earlier: Prince George RCMP is requesting the public stay out of the downtown area as they conduct a high-risk investigation into a potential bomb threat at the Courthouse on 250 George Street.

“Multiple roads are blocked off between Third Avenue and Second Avenue and between George Street and Queensway. Please obey police officers and bylaw officers as they redirect all pedestrian and vehicle traffic away from that area,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The courthouse has been evacuated. Updates will be made as they come available.
