BC Hydro CEO to kick off Chamber breakfast speaker series

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Chamber of Commerce has unveiled its list of speakers for its breakfast speaker series this summer and fall.

The series kicks off on August 7 when Chris O’Reiley, the president and CEO of BC Hydro speaks at the Courtyard by Marriott, starting at 7:30 a.m. Attendance is free, with registration required through the Chamber’s website at pgchamber.ca. O’Reiley’s s talk is entitled Power Pathways: Building BC’s Energy Future.

TC Energy is sponsoring the next three speakers in the Chamber’s breakfast series, starting with Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty on August 16 at Courtyard by Marriott. Doherty will provide an update on the Canadian political landscape, with a federal election on the horizon next year. Attendance is $30 for Chamber members and $45 for future Chamber members. On September 24, Acting Officer In Charge Darin Rappel of the Prince George RCMP will be the keynote speaker at the next Chamber breakfast to provide an update on community public safety and law enforcement.

A month later, Mayor Simon Yu will provide an update on Prince George City Council initiatives. His talk on October 24th will come at the halfway point in his term as mayor and just five days after the provincial election. The venues for the breakfasts featuring Insp. Rappel and Mayor Yu have yet to be determined.

Finally, nominations continue to flow in for the Chamber’s 39th annual Business Excellence Awards, which will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the House of Ancestors. Nominations are open in 15 categories until September 2nd. It’s an opportunity to celebrate amazing local businesses.
