RCMP investigation causes backups on Highway 16 West

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP made an arrest in the Bednesti area at around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon (Aug.2).

Mounties say the search for the suspect started just before 11 a.m. Friday when they discovered an overturned car on the 25000 block of Highway 16 West with some suspicious items at the scene.

Police went to speak with the man but he disappeared before they could reach him. With the help of the RCMP’s Police Dog Service team and others, the man was arrested at around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The search slowed traffic on Highway 16 West for a couple of hours as police conducted their search. Police say that charges are pending. The suspect’s name has not been released.
