QUESNEL — A shoplifting blitz in Quesnel over four days this week lead to the arrest of seven men, one woman while three youth were detained for investigation.

The blitz was launched due to frustration over ongoing thefts from local stores and resulted in the recovery of $1,728.89 worth of goods and the recovery of a stolen semi- truck worth approximately $25,000. Eighteen arrest warrants were executed.

Members of the Quesnel RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit partnered with Quesnel City Bylaws to identify and apprehend people committing thefts from businesses around Quesnel.

“The RCMP’s partnership with Bylaws helped to make this project successful,” says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. “These thefts have a significant financial cost to businesses and the consumers.”
