PRINCE GEORGE —An elderly man suffered serious injuries in a carjacking outside the departure terminal at Prince George Airport (YXS) early Saturday afternoon (Aug.24).

CKPG News has learned the couple, a man in his nineties and a woman in her eighties, had just dropped off a friend at around 1 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Once the couple returned to the vehicle, the carjacker climbed in the back, pushed the woman out of the vehicle and the suspect then entered the front of the vehicle and drove off with the doors open. The carjacker ejected the driver on Ellis Road just before Johnson Road. The elderly driver suffered a broken femur, fractured ribs and multiple contusions. He is now recovering in hospital.

RCMP arrested the suspect a short time later. No word yet on what charges the suspect is currently facing.
