Calling it a career: Gordon Duke retiring from PGAA at end of 2024

PRINCE GEORGE — It has sometimes been a wild and turbulent ride for Gordon Duke as President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority. Starting in 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Duke had to navigate a new airport and then later on, a global pandemic right out of the gate.

It wasn’t all difficult times. Duke saw a number of changes during his tenure including the reintrodcution of WestJet’s Puerto Vallarta flight and the announcement that a hotel is going to be built right next to the terminal.

“I’m really proud of the work we’ve done engaging with the community, the Sunflower program, Meals on Wheels, and a highlight has to be the collaboration agreement and the Indigenous Heritage Project that we’re engaged in with the Lheidli T’enneh

“Gordon has been a steady and dedicated leader during a time of significant change,” said Derek Dougherty, Board Chair of PGAA. “His commitment to the success of the airport and its community has been exemplary. As we prepare for his departure, the Board has formed a search committee to identify our next CEO, a task we do not take lightly.”

“It has been a privilege to lead the Prince George Airport Authority over the past five years,” said Duke. “I am deeply proud of the progress we have made as an organization, and the incredible partnerships we’ve formed. While I look forward to new chapters in my life, I will always cherish my time at PGAA and the community that supported our journey.”

Gordon Duke’s last day at YXS is December 31, and he says will be looking forward to watching the progress at the airport from afar, and will be back for the opening of the hotel at YXS.
