Timberwolves come back and grab a point to wrap up another weekend at Masich

PRINCE GEORGE— The UNBC Timberwolves men’s soccer team needed a bounce back on Saturday night and they got it. Following a tough 1-0 loss on Friday for the Tailgate game at Masich Place Stadium, they once again found themselves trailing by a goal in the second half.

It was an unlikely candidate, rookie defender Luke Graham who tied the game up in the 66th minute, heading home the tally after the set piece pinballed off a few heads before finding his and the back of the net.

“This has been a dream of mine to play on a U Sports team for years and years,” said Graham postgame. “To really be able to play and then score the first goal at home this season is amazing.”

Graham scored his first career Canada West goal to grab the Timberwolves a point despite another game conceding the first goal.

“We knew that they were going to come out strong and we knew we had to come out stronger. Definitely tough going down early in the second half, but we really worked and got back and were able to get one.”

While the rookie is carving out a spot for himself on this young UNBC squad, reigning Timberwolves Male Rookie of the Year Koss Nystedt is a leader on the teams back line.

“It’s all about motivating each other and coming out as a team. It’s not one person,” said Nystedt postgame. “We started a little slow this year but it’s building blocks and it was great to see that we came back today and fought back.”

The team will hope to keep building chemistry and grabbing points when they wrap up their home stand next weekend with the Calgary Dinos in town.
