First Nation west of Quesnel placed on evacuation alert

The BC Wildfire Service says a First Nation, located 173 kilometres west of Quesnel, is under evacuation alert.

It says the fire activity on the North Blackwater River wildfire has become more serious due to “wind and unseasonably warm and dry conditions.”

The wildfire, located about 130 kilometres west of the city of Quesnel, prompted the Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation Nation to issue an evacuation alert.

On Friday (Sept. 6), the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako issued an evacuation alert.

Due to potential danger to life and health, all lands and properties accessed by Ootsa Nadina Road and local roads south and east of the Rainbow Lake recreation site and west of Skins Lake and the spillway were placed on alert.
