Dawson Creek RCMP investigate two drug related deaths in a 24 hour period

NORTHERN B.C.— The Dawson Creek RCMP are warning the public of a possible toxic drug supply in Northern B.C. after attending two separate drug related deaths in less than a 24-hour period.

On September 9, 2024 at approximately 5:30 p.m. police were advised by Emergency Health Services that a 43-year-old female was found dead in a makeshift shelter near 17th Street and Willowbrook Crescent. Upon arrival, the RCMP located numerous indications that the deceased had been using illicit substances prior to her death.

Shortly after on September 10, 2024 at around 1:00 p.m., police received a report from a by-stander that a 30-year-old male had been found dead in Barbaree Park. Officers once again located items indicative of recent drug use prior to his demise.

The BC Coroners Service has taken over the investigation.
