Reports of a man with a firearm near an elementary school in Quesnel deemed unfounded
CARIBOO— The RCMP in Quesnel are advising everyone that a lockdown at Lakeview Elementary School has been lifted
The lockdown took place on September 13, 2024, at around 8:15 a.m., after a student said that he saw a man near the school grounds that may have had a firearm. However, after an extensive search of the area by police they were unable to locate anyone.
Quesnel Junior Secondary was also placed on a hold and secure due to it’s proximity to Lakview. It’s hold and secure has also been lifted.
“These types of complaints at a school are always concerning for everyone involved,” says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch. “Thanks to the quick response from the schools staff for their diligence in locking down the school to ensure the safety of the students while police responded.”
