Former Hudson’s Hope mayor running for BC Greens in Prince George-Valemount

PRINCE GEORGE — The BC Greens have nominated Gwen Johansson as their candidate in Prince George-Valemount.

Johansson was born and raised in McBride and has a Bachelor’s degree in Education from UBC and a Master’s from the University of Oregon.

Her career took her to various communities in British Columbia before she finally settled in Hudson’s Hope where she spent 22 years on municipal council, including six years as mayor.

In a news release, the BC Greens call her “a dedicated advocate for sustainable energy and community development.”

While on municipal council, she earned appointments to the BC Energy Council, the BC Hydro Board of Directors and the Energy & Mines Advisory Committee.

The other declared candidates in the riding are Rosalyn Bird of the Conservative Party of BC and Clay Pountney of the NDP.

Election day is scheduled for October 19.
