PRINCE GEORGE— The Cougars kick off their 2024-25 season tonight at the CN Centre. Not only are they playing a rematch of last years playoffs against the Spokane Chiefs but they’re also raising their second B.C. Division banner in Prince George.

“You can feel the excitement through the team,” said GM and Head Coach Mark Lamb on the new season. “In talking to some the season ticket holders, everyone’s saying the same thing. It’s an exciting year and we’re in an exciting spot with our organization.”

Despite having nine players still at NHL training camps, the players that are here to compete this weekend are stoked to get going.

“All the boys are hype. We’re raising the banner, so that’s going to get everyone excited. Fans are buzzing, everybody’s buzzing. It’s gonna be a good game,” said second year forward Jett Lajoie about the season opener.

Along with the players, fans are definitely excited for another season of Cougars hockey.

“So pumped. Even the family, my son and everybody, we’re trying to invite everybody out just to see what we can do and develop these young rookies in to professional hockey players,” said lifelong fan Jeremy Brazma on Friday.

The CN Centre will be packed with fans to cheer on the Cougars for their season opening back to back against the Spokane Chiefs.
