Spruce Kings begin season with victory over hometown Eagles

SOUTH SURREY, B.C. — The Prince George Spruce Kings opened their B.C. Hockey League campaign on Friday (Sept. 20), earning a 4-1 victory over the hometown Surrey Eagles.

Cooper Williams, Aidan Souligny, Aidan Carolan and Kazumo Sasaki tallied for the Spruce Kings (1-0-0-0) in support of goaltender Carter Wishart, who stopped 20 shots to pick up the victory between the pipes.

Brandon Gill scored for the Eagles (0-1-0-0), whose goaltender, Jaiden Sharma, made 26 saves in a losing effort.

The Chilliwack Chiefs (0-1-0-0) will host the Eagles on Saturday (Sept. 21).
