BC Conservatives open Prince George campaign HQ and hold ‘Common Sense Change’ rally

PRINCE GEORGE — The Conservative Party of BC has kicked off their campaign in Prince George with a “Common Sense Change” rally and the opening of their new campaign headquarters.

Party leader John Rustad was in attendance and outlined his plans should he be elected Premier and with the provincial election now a two way race, Rustad took aim at BC NDP leader David Eby.

“I just think, quite frankly, that British Columbians deserve a premier who’s actually going to be able to stand on principles and not just fill people up with lies and spin” – John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of B.C.

Crime was a main talking point for Rustad at the rally, particularly when it came to prolific offenders. He said that he would push for guaranteed minimum sentencing and that there “needs to be consequences for prolific offenders that are just out there. We need to get them off our streets. We need to make our streets safer.”

When it came to criticisms that the party was running people who don’t have any experience in government, or in cabinet, Rustad said:

“I say hallelujah we don’t have their experience. We don’t need the kind of experience that is seeing people dying on our streets from drugs and crime. We don’t need that kind of experience that has destroyed our economy. We don’t need the kind of experience that has left our health care system in shambles.”

Rustad says he is confident in his slate of candidates for the Prince George area which are Kiel Giddens, Rosalyn Bird and Sheldon Clare. He said of the three that they are going to “step up to the plate, bring their skills and are going to fight hard for this province. I know for a fact that they’ll stand up and do their jobs.”

No new policy announcements were made at the rally, but Rustad said that the Conservatives housing policy would be released on Friday. Rustad did not take questions from the media at the rally.

The election will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
