Cougars trade Carlin Dezainde to Swift Current

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars have traded forward Carlin Dezainde and a 2025 ninth-round draft pick to the Swift Current Broncos in exchange for forward Van Eger, a 2025 second-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-round pick.

The trade comes a day after the Cougars announced Koehn Ziemmer was being returned to the team by the Los Angeles Kings.

Eger is 19-years-old and has played in two games this season. Last year, he had six points in 31 games.

Dezainde played 160 games for the Cougars and this year had 10 points in seven games.

“Dez (Dezainde) has turned himself into a real good WHL player that could help any team,” said GM & Head Coach Mark Lamb. “It is not a trade we wanted to make but with Ziemmer coming back, the business part of the game comes into play.”

The Prince George Cougars return to home ice Tuesday night to kick off a three-game homestand against the Portland Winterhawks at 7:00.
